Micron manufactures many RAM parts, but I'm not sure that they manufacture a 32 GB non-ECC DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM part yet. These are not the DIMMs that the Mini is looking for. Crucial has a few 32 GB DDR4-2666 or -2933 DIMMs, but they are ECC RDIMMs and LRDIMMs. I did a search on the Crucial site for "32 GB SO-DIMM" without specifying a computer model. That said, I couldn't find any definitive answers, so who knows?Īnother mystery is why Crucial is not offering a 64GB kit? The dual channel memory may be faster (though not appreciably) than the single channel.

The faster option is single channel, the slower dual channel. The second, faster option may well only run at the same speed as the slower option, because the controller limits it (I think). In the absence of someone really knowledgable, and based on a little interwebs research, no appreciable difference: (Usage: Photoshop, ACR, and Safari, with far too many layers, tabs, open documents etc.) Is there any real-world difference between these two options?

Prices of RAM have tumbled since the 2018 mini was announced, and I notice that Crucial are now selling two different 32GB (2 x 16GB) kits:Ĭrucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2666 SODIMM £135.59Ĭrucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM £148.79 (I'd been waiting on the details of the new Mac Pro, but it's too rich for me.)
